Idris Elbra drives Bentley at 180mph breaking British land speed record

Idris Elba beats world land speed record and it comes right down to The Wire

The Wire superstar and widely-tipped Doctor Who replacement Idris Elba has broken the British landspeed record today on a mucky Welsh beach.

Sir Malcolm Campbell’s landspeed record was achieved nearly 90 years ago.

The Golden Globe actor – won for his role in BBC crime drama Luther – smashed a top speed of 180.361mph.

“I’m absolutely elated to have broken the ‘Flying Mile’ at Pendine Sands,” Elba said.

Elba broke the previous 1927 record (set at 174mph) in the best-selling Bentley marque of the last decade: the Continental GT – now in its 2015 Speed edition.
