We’re only seven days into 2016 and the first recall of the year has already been issues. 2016 Chevrolet Traverse, GMC Arcadia and Buick Enclave are being recalled over a seat problem, which increases the risk of an injury in case of a collision.

Currently, around 2,600 vehicles are believed to be affected. The problem is believed to be caused by welds on the third row left lower seat frame not being in the correct locations.

It has been revealed that to fix the fault, dealers will inspect the affected vehicles and fix the problem free of charge.

Owners of the affected cars have not yet been contacted however they can ring in and ask for more information if they believe they’re vehicles are affected. No schedules have yet been announced so it’s not clear when customers will be notified.

Although the problem appears to be rather minor, it’s definitely good that it’s being addressed. Whether it will be dealt with quickly remains to be seen however we’re glad that it’s being addressed.

Last year saw one of the biggest scandals in years emerge in the industry, with Volkswagen admitting to using a software to cheat diesel emissions tests. Vauxhall is also dealing with a scandal at the moment, following the discovery last year that some of its vehicles were catching on fire.

It’s not the best start to 2016 for owners of affected vehicles however they year has only just begun so hopefully no major recalls will have to occur at all this year.
