Selling your old vehicle

Sell your old car

Many of us grow close to our cars. We drive them every day, learning all about them and all their secrets. As much as we love our vehicles however there always comes a time when we have to say goodbye. Whether it’s because we’re purchasing a new vehicle or because we’re in need of some quick cash, selling a car can be quite a difficult task.

We’ve decided to put together a short guide to help you get the most for your old vehicle and give a peace of mind.

First of all you have to take into consideration how much time and effort you are willing to put into the process. If you’re not in a hurry to sell your vehicle and you’re willing to put a lot of effort in then selling your car privately could be the best option for you. If, on the other hand, you’re in a hurry to sell your car fast, selling it to a car buying service would be better for you.

Selling your car privately is quite a task. It requires you to do all the work yourself and it could take anywhere from days to weeks or even months for you to find the right buyer. On top of that you will have to actively seek potential buyers by posting adverts on websites such as Gumtree. Then you’ll have to make sure that you have all the right documents and getting the other person to pay could be difficult, time-consuming and stressful.

To sell your vehicle privately, start by taking some pictures of the car and doing some research about the particular model you have. You want to find out exactly how much you can expect for the vehicle so that the price you choose is fair both to you and the person purchasing the vehicle.

When selling a vehicle privately, you have to be prepared for the fact that you’re not going to sell the vehicle instantly. It’s going to take a while and you will need to put the effort in if you’re expecting to be successful.

If you are trying to get rid of your vehicle fast, you’d probably be better of using a car buying service instead such as: Trusted Car Buyers or We Buy Any Car. Most will purchase your vehicle within days and some even offer collection services so you don’t even have to take the car anywhere.

There are many different services to choose from, so do your research before you settle on one. Some of the biggest services our there aren’t necessarily the best, so find one that you feel comfortable with.

Before you sell your car, again do your research and find out how much your vehicle is worth. You will probably get less selling your car this way but you’ll be able to sell it instantly.

Depending on what your needs are, there are many different ways to sell your car. As mentioned above the one most important piece of advice we can give you is, do your research.

Don’t forget to let know DVLA that you sold your car.
