Spring Car Maintenance Tips

Although winter is in full swing at the moment it’s never too early to start preparing for spring. Winter months can be extremely tough on your vehicle, depending on where you live. If snow and ice are common in your area, your vehicle will likely be affected even more.

A couple of weeks back, we’ve put together a short guide to help you prepare your car for winter. With spring quickly approaching, we thought it would be a good idea to prepare a new guide to help you take care of your vehicle once spring is here.

The first thing you should do, once the harsh winter months come to an end, is closely inspect your vehicle. This shouldn’t be too difficult or time consuming but it could potentially save you a lot of money. Finding an issue before it becomes a serious problem is crucial as it’s much easier to prevent something from getting worse than trying to fix it once it’s a serious problem.

Start with the batteries. Check if they work and if you notice anything strange or unusual, get them checked out. Our guide to car battery maintenance will help you with that. Your vehicle is put under a lot of pressure during winter, which in effect can compromise the performance of your batteries.

Your tyres are put under even greater pressure during the winter months. Make sure you inspect them carefully. Pay close attention to the tyre pressure and if you’re uncertain what it should be, consult the inside of your car door, which should tell you exactly what the pressure should be.

Due to the ice and snow covering the roads, you’ll likely to use your breaks more in the winter. Once the weather mellows, inspect your brakes and if you notice anything out of the ordinary, get it checked out straight away. Don’t drive with faulty brakes as you will be putting your life, as well as the lives of those around you, at risk.

To make your car feel like new again give it a good wash just in time for spring. Not only will you enjoy the many benefits that come with having a fresh and clean vehicle but you will also prevent all the dirt and road salt, that accumulated on the car’s body throughout the winter, from corroding the metal.

These few simple tips can greatly improve your car’s performance and will make your car feel fresh and new just in time for spring.
